Traditional Facelift & Neck Lift
Your active, healthy lifestyle has likely paid off with a toned, fit body. Unfortunately, exercise can't do much to shape up your face. The visible signs of age, heredity, weight fluctuation, and exposure to the elements all detract from the youthful look of your face. What Is a Traditional Facelift and Neck Lift?
A traditional facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, aesthetically improves the lower two‐thirds of the face, including cheeks, jowls, and neck. The neck lift focuses on the area below your chin, and for many facelift patients, liposuction is used to remove excess fat deposits. These procedures together offer a more comprehensive improvement than the short scar facelift, which does not effectively resolve sagging skin on the jowls and neck but does result in a quicker recovery for most patients.
Many traditional facelift patients choose to combine their procedure with other facial sculpting procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery to achieve a more complete result. Dr. Narasimhan's artistic eye can help guide your decision about which combination of procedures will produce the natural, more youthful result you want.
How Much Does a Facelift or a Neck Lift Cost?
Although we cannot quote a specific price without an in-person consultation, the physician fees for a full facelift range from $9,000 to $12,800, and for a neck lift, from $3,500 to $6,400.
Why Choose Dr. Narasimhan
Dr. Narasimhan stands out from other surgeons for many reasons, including:
- Uses least-invasive approach to each facelift procedure
- Focuses on internal, deep-tissue SMAS tightening for naturally attractive, long-lasting outcomes
- Meticulous surgical technique minimizes bleeding, swelling, and bruising for early return to work and normal life
Are These Procedurese Right for Me?
Facelift and neck lift plastic surgery can enhance your natural attractiveness by restoring a youthful lower facial appearance that spans from below your eyes to your neck. Typical candidates are healthy women and men between the ages of 40 and 70 years.
Many satisfied patients attain youthful cheeks, a more chiseled jawline, and a smooth neck. Dr. Narasimhan's goal is for you to look naturally attractive for your age, not to make you look like someone else. He is practiced in subtle surgical techniques that will avoid a pulled, overly‐tightened look.
Recovery After Facelift and Neck Lift Surgery
It's important to give yourself plenty of time to rest and heal at home following your face lift or neck lift surgery. You may experience mild to moderate discomfort as you heal, and Dr. Narasimhan will prescribe medication to help with this. Some people also report itchiness around their incisions. Dr. Narasimhan may recommend a topical product to ensure you remain as comfortable as possible. He will also likely advise you to keep your head elevated for several days to avoid unnecessary swelling. During your consultation, Dr. Narasimhan will discuss your post‐surgical activity restrictions with you to help you plan accordingly. He will give you specific instructions on how long you will need to postpone vigorous exercise, sexual activity, alcohol, tobacco, and sun exposure.
Around the 1 week mark, you'll attend a follow‐up appointment at which Dr. Narasimhan will likely remove your bandages and any non‐dissolving stitches. Most patients take a bit more time to recuperate at home until swelling and bruising have significantly subsided, and feel socially presentable after about 2 weeks.
Although residual swelling and bruising can persist for up to 6 weeks, they can be easily covered with makeup — and you'll notice an improvement well before then. Your skin will appear smoother and tighter, and your face will have a more youthful shape and contours. Friends and family may comment that you look younger or more refreshed.
Although the results of a facelift cannot last forever, you can preserve your new look for many years by protecting your skin from the sun, maintaining a healthy weight, and not smoking. Dr. Narasimhan also often recommends non‐surgical treatments such as injectable fillers or BOTOX® Cosmetic to help extend or enhance facelift results. Some people may choose to undergo a second facelift later on to preserve their results, but this is a personal decision. If you're concerned about prolonging your younger‐looking appearance, a visit with Dr. Narasimhan can help you determine the best course of action for your unique circumstances.
