The Importance of Breast Augmentation Before & After Photos

Narasimhan Plastic Surgery

When it comes to breast augmentation in St. Petersburg, one size does not fit all. No two breast augmentation procedures are alike, and attempting the same surgical techniques over and over creates cookie-cutter results.

The best breast augmentation outcomes are highly personalized to fit your body shape and cosmetic goals. Your breasts should look like they fit your body and flatter your shape, not someone else’s.

Preparing for Your Consultation

To get the look you want, it’s important to clearly communicate your goals to your plastic surgeon. A good way to help your surgeon better understand the exact shape and size of breasts you want is to bring before-and-after photos to your initial consultation. You can usually find these photos on your plastic surgeon’s website and social media accounts. (You can see one of our patient’s results in the Instagram post below.) You can also ask to see before-and-after photos during your appointment. If the surgeon doesn’t have photos for you to view, that’s a red flag that they may not be qualified to perform your surgery.

When selecting your photos, be sure to choose images of women whose breast augmentation results you like and whose body shape is similar to yours. When browsing photo galleries, remember to consider factors such as height, weight, and chest width in addition to breast size. This will not only help you get a better idea of what you might look like with breast implants, but it will also provide your plastic surgeon with valuable insight about your goals for surgery.

Each Procedure Is Unique

Your breast augmentation consultation is your opportunity to get to know your plastic surgeon and make sure they are the right fit for you. It’s also your chance to clearly express what you want from your breast augmentation procedure.

Open, clear communication is key when discussing your goals for surgery, and before-and-after photos are a valuable, visual tool to help ensure you and your surgeon are on the same page. You can also bring photos of celebrities, friends, or family members who have had breast augmentation. Your plastic surgeon will be able to discuss whether or not their results will be possible for your body.

How I Approach Breast Augmentation

As a double board-certified plastic surgeon, I have extensive experience and education in procedures for the face, breast, and body. I approach breast augmentation surgery on a case-by-case basis. Every consultation is unique, and every procedure is different.

Seeing before-and-after photos helps me know what look my client wants to achieve. I keep this in mind as I perform a thorough exam and evaluate the individual’s current breast shape, size, body frame, height, weight, and other factors. This will allow me to create a more tailored surgical plan and also know whether or not their cosmetic goals are possible. Sometimes achieving the patient’s goals means combining a breast augmentation with a breast lift to elevate the breasts’ position on the body.

On occasion, I might have to tell a patient that they are either not a good candidate for breast augmentation or that their desired result won’t work for their body type. These are not easy conversations, but I’m always open and honest with my patients about what can or can’t be achieved. Having realistic expectations about the results that are possible is essential for a positive plastic surgery experience.
